The project is located along I-90 in Mineral County and will include a new ADA-compliant rest area facility with eight restrooms, utilities upgrades, parking facility rehabilitation to provide easier vehicle turning and parking, and the addition of safety features to facilitate Montana’s Vision Zero program.
The Quartz Flats Rest Area serves travelers year-round and is the gateway to the U.S. Forest Service Quartz Flat campground during the summer. The rest area was originally built in 1967 and rehabilitated in 1989.
